A Midsummer Night's Dream is an original mix media 36” x 72” x 1.5” hand-painted by Leon F Ruiz. The artwork is created with found books, magazines, and newspapers on local beaches. These bits and pieces of reading material were left behind by beach visitors. All the found material is soaked in water until it is a mush-like texture; it is then mixed with acrylic, which turns into a paper-mache-like texture. That is then applied to the painting to make these coral-inspired paintings. The piece includes hangers on the back that allow you to hang it vertically or horizontally.
