Art Studio Assistant

Emerald Art Gallery is seeking a skilled Art Studio Assistant to join our talented Studio Art Team. The assistant is responsible for keeping the studio tidy, cleaning up painting tools, throwing away trash, and making sure the studio is ready for both artists to start working. The candidate will need a strong work ethic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Including the following duties while other responsibilities may be assigned

  • Prepare Studio and Art Tools

  • Assist Artists between Monday - Friday

  • Must have the availability and willingness to work days and evenings

  • Responsible for ensuring that studio space and tools are cleaned properly after each painting session

  • Inventory of supplies

  • Assembling stretch bars and stretch canvas

  • Framing paintings on custom frames

  • Assistant will be asked to deliver paintings to our clients during the week

Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required. Must be able to work well with other team members, artists, and interact with our guests.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • none

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Interested in fine arts. (encouraged)

  • College students (encouraged)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Spanish and English speakers (encouraged)

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic math skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs

  • Must be able to carry large paintings with frames

  • Must help artists load and unload trucks

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Small Art studio in a friendly community

  • The artist's home is in front of a 1-acre property

DRIVERS LICENSE

  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

  • Truck or large vehicle driving experience (required)

  • The candidate must have current vehicle insurance

The part-time position is open from May to October. Our home art studio is located in Mishawaka, Indiana.
